Breast enlargement(augmentation) procedure is performed by inserting a breast implant behind a woman's natural breast tissue. The inserted implant projects the breast tissue forward, giving a fuller breast appearance. Women of all ages have this procedure.
Enhanced breast and shape may be for the following reasons:
Dissatisfaction with original breast size
To regain or improve breast shape and size following weight loss or child birth
To correct uneven breasts (asymmetry)
Correction of congenital deformity of one or both breasts
How is the procedure peformed?
Under general anaesthesia.
Takes around one hour to perform.
Usual stay in hospital is for one night to recover.
7 - 14 days away from work
A fine incision is made in the crease-line beneath the breast itself, through the armpit, or around the underside of the nipple area. Implants can be positioned in one of two places within the breast cavity.
Results
The final result can be obscured by initial swelling. It can take up to 14 days for the initial swelling and bruising to settle down, but the residual swelling will settle down gradually over several months.
It is usual for patients to take 7 to 14 days away from work to rest and recover at home following the procedure. It is important to allow for natural healing to take place and to abstain from strenuous activity or heavy lifting for six weeks following surgery.
Initially breasts will feel firm and they will take at least six weeks to soften to a more natural appearance and feel.

Under general anaesthetic
Usually 1 - 2 nights stay in hospital
An average of 2 hours to perform
Around 2 weeks away from work
Surgery can produce smaller, lighter, improved breast shape, complementary and proportionate to the rest of an individual's figure.
Why this procedure?
General size and shape of the breasts
Uneven breasts
Back, neck and shoulder pain as a result of breast size
Large breasts can interfere with normal daily activities and ability to exercise
Skin irritation due to heavy breasts, particularly in hot weather
Limited to clothes that can be worn due to large breasts
Self-esteem, confidence or relationships affected by concerns and feelings about breast size.
Results
This procedure can provide a better quality of life and improved self-confidence. A basic breast reduction procedure involves surgical reduction of breast tissue and restoration of contour through a series of carefully planned and measured incisions. The most common incision methods leave a scar that extends around the darker tissue surrounding the nipple and extends down the midline of the lower segment of the breast and then follows the natural crease line beneath the breast.

A breast uplift procedure (mastopexy) can help women of all ages to correct sagging breasts. The procedure involves the surgical tailoring and tightening of breast skin. The desired outcome and objective of uplift surgery is to produce a pert, firm, more youthful breast shape that is in proportion to the rest of a women's figure.
The procedure is also suitable for women who suffer with uneven (asymmetrical) breasts.
Under general anaesthetic
One night stay in hospital
Can be performed in conjunction with breast implant surgery
Procedure takes between 1 - 2 hours
The procedure involves the rearrangement of soft tissue, repositioning of the nipple and tightening of the surrounding breast skin. Techniques for breast uplift vary between surgeons and according to the individual needs of each patient. The highest standards of breast uplift surgery will result in some visible scarring on the breasts. Results
The procedure can provide excellent results, freeing women from the concerns that sagging breasts can cause.
The operated area is often quite numb following surgery. The return of nipple sensitivity following surgery is entirely variable from one patient to another. Breast-feeding may or may not be possible if a future pregnancy were to occur. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 8 weeks.
Scarring matures and fades to a cosmetically acceptable level within 6 - 12 months.
